Museums and Collections

Items that document the natural and cultural history of Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Bighorn Canyon are preserved in facilities where they are available for viewing by the public and examination by researchers in each park. While some of these objects are exhibited in visitor centers and small museums, the largest collection is stored at the Yellowstone Heritage and Research Center near the park’s north entrance in Gardiner, Montana. In addition to items such as photographs, hotel furnishings, works of art, archeological artifacts, wildlife specimens, and a herbarium, this facility also houses the park archives and a research library.
