Bat Conservation Evaluation for White Grass Ranch

Project Type:  Conservation Strategy
Project Status:  Completed

In 2005, a study conducted by the Wyoming Natural Diversity Database for Grand Teton National Park evaluated bat use of White Grass Ranch structures and suggested a plan for mitigating the impact of ranch building renovations on bats. Based on data from the Bat Inventory of the Greater Yellowstone Network, structures in White Grass Ranch exhibited substantial and long-term use by multiple species. Using expert advice and conservation literature, staggered exclusion and development of ranch buildings and strategic placement of alternative roost structures were suggested to mitigate effects on bats.
