More than 300 bird species have been sighted in each of the three Greater Yellowstone park units, including raptors, songbirds, shorebirds, and waterfowl. About 150 species build their nests and fledge their young in these national parks, but many of the birds that use the parks’ aquatic and riparian habitats are migratory species that need to find suitable nesting areas or winter range elsewhere in the Western Hemisphere.
