Yellowstone National Park manages two archival collections.

  1. The Park Archives, which contain unpublished records that were created or received by park administrators as well as resource management records and records of the Yellowstone Park Company (an early park concessioner)
  2. The Affiliated Archives, which the National Park Service retains custody of as one of nine sites affiliated with National Archives and Records Administration in Washington, D.C..These include administrative records from the civilian superintendent period (1872-1886); U.S. Army records from the period when it was responsible for managing the park (1886-1918), National Park Service records (1916-present), and records pertaining to the park’s development, maintenance, history, interpretation, lands, recreation planning, laws and legal matters, and forestry.
